MetroPCS has officially launched the Huawei Ascend.? An entry-level smartphone that's powered by the Android 2.1 (Eclair) operating system (OS), the Huawei Ascend features a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, 3.2MP camera, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

MetroPCS states that the Huawei Ascend is priced at $179 for smartphone plans starting at $50 per month with no annual contract.? What a great value for an Android device offering key features, such as:

Verizon 4G LTE Will be Available without a Contract, Same Data Pricing

There's more news regarding Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE launch on Sunday December 5.? Verizon will also offer 4G LTE without a contract commitment, reports Sacha Segan on his Twitter account.? The Verizon 4G LTE monthly rates will be the same; however, users will have to pay full price for the modem, which costs $249.99.

The rates for Verizon 4G LTE Mobile Broadband data plans are $50 monthly access for 5GB monthly allowance or $80 monthly access for 10GB monthly allowance, both with $10/GB overage costs.

Verizon 4G LTE will launch Sunday in 38 metropolitan areas and over fifty airports.

Verizon Wireless will use its nationwide swath of contiguous 700 MHz spectrum to deploy its LTE/4G network.? This spectrum covers the entire lower 48 states plus Hawaii, and it gives Verizon Wireless customers the nationwide bandwidth and coverage they need, when and where they need it.

LTE provides enhanced security through the implementation of UICC Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) and the associated robust and non-invasive key storage and symmetric key authentication using 128-bit private keys.? LTE additionally incorporates strong mutual authentication, user identity confidentiality, integrity protection of all signaling messages between UE and Mobility Management Entity (MME) and optional multi-level bearer data encryption.

Clearwire Sprint 4G WiMAX Available in Los Angeles, Miami, D.C., Cincinnati & Columbus

Sprint has launched 4G WiMAX service in Los Angeles, Miami, Washington D.C., Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio.

Customers in these metropolitan areas can now take full advantage of the Sprint 4G network using a wide range of 4G-capable smartphones and mobile hotspot USB modems.

WiMAX 4G access is available via the Overdrive Mobile Hotspot,? Samsung Epic 4G and HTC EVO 4G.

"We have witnessed a great demand from our customers for 4G speeds, power and capabilities in these cities already, and today they officially have it," said Matt Carter, president of Sprint 4G.? "We are proud to deliver on our commitment to serve our customers and deliver 4G to more major metropolitan areas in 2010."

With the addition of these six markets, Sprint 4G is now available in 68 markets across the country, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and New York City.? Additionally, the wireless carrier announced that it expects to launch the San Francisco market - home to Silicon Valley and thousands of tech enthusiasts - on Dec. 28.

Sprint first launched 4G in Baltimore in September 2008 and has since delivered a comprehensive consumer, business and public sector strategy and a portfolio of devices, consisting of phones, USB aircards, notebook/netbook products, mobile hotspots and routers, which are being used by satisfied consumers and businesses.

iOS 4.2 brings over?100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad, including Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, AirPlay and?AirPrint.? To update, connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes.

iPad users can now run their favorite apps and switch between them instantly, while preserving iPad's battery?life.? Users can organize their apps with drag-and-drop simplicity using Folders.? Mail now features a Unified Inbox, fast?inbox switching, and a threaded message view.

Game Center allows iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users to challenge and play friends or be matched automatically with new?opponents, showcase their scores and achievements, and discover new games their friends are playing.

The iOS 4.2 update is available today to download to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch by synching the device with iTunes 10.1.? iOS 4.2 is compatible with iPad, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, second and third generation iPod touch (late 2009 models?with 32GB or 64GB), and new iPod touch.
