Ex-Woking Manager Colin Lippiatt dies of cancer

FORMER boss of Woking FC Colin Lippiatt died on Friday (15 October) having lost his fight against cancer.

Lippiatt, 68, was coach Geoff Chapple and human right during 1990s heyday of cards that the club won promotion to the Conference, raised the FA to Wembley trophy three times and hit national titles in the Cup.

Later, he had spells as manager – having been previously supported alongside Brian Caterer in 1981-82 - Conference room and, more recently, in the Kingfield as Director of football.

Lippiatt, which also held the positions of management in the town of Yeovil, St Albans City and Leatherhead, was known and respected for football - contacts and phone numbers as legendary players photographic memory book non-Ligue as spotless white trainers, he always wore.

Chapple, now a Director of Kingfield himself, insists on the fact that he was Lippiatt was bring the star players like Laurence Batty, Clive Walker, and Mark Biggins in Woking.

The pair - sometimes compared with another double management, Brian Clough and Peter Taylor - Act fell, but was patched up their differences before cancer of the pancreas, diagnosed during the summer, finally took the Lippiatt life.

Chapple has led the tributes, saying: "I left with a feeling of overwhelming debt of gratitude to a man who played a massive part in my life, both on and off the field."

Lippiatt - who live near Bracknell - becomes the second high-profile cards servant to die this year, following life President Phil book in January.

Woking will ask viewers to observe a minute applause of in memory of Lippiatt advance last Saturday Cup tie against Eastleigh.

Former President Director and Jon club Davies suggested that fans should turn to white trainers port as a mark of respect.
